EASTER BAPTISMS IN CAPE VERDE

It is a tradition on Easter weekend for Nazarene Churches in Cabo Verde to gather on the most famous beaches of the islands to hold services of celebration and baptism. Thus, showing the world that those who have been baptized by the blood of the Lamb have made the best choice for their lives by giving themselves totally into the hands of Jesus Christ.

The Church of the Nazarene’s Manual describes Christian baptism as a sacrament signifying participation by faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and inclusion in His Body; that is, the Church. It is a means of grace that proclaims Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

With the firm conviction of Salvation through Jesus Christ, Nazarenes in Cabo Verde were publicly baptized, from Santo Antão to Brava. In the two districts of Cabo Verde, children, youth, and adults declared through baptism that they accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour and that, from that day forward, they will live according to what Jesus teaches us in His word.

Most notably, in the Civil Jail of Praia, the country’s capital, 11 inmates accepted Jesus and were baptized to the Glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. From Santo Antão to Brava, 80 people were baptized and will also be received as members of the Church of the Nazarene in Cabo Verde.

Praise God for the mighty ways He is working in Cabo Verde!
