Africa Nazarene University Celebrating its 26th Annual Graduation

By Dr. Gabriel Benjiman

During the last week of July 2023, there were good and positive outcomes for the Council meetings at Africa Nazarene University (ANU), Nairobi, Kenya. Our Vice-Chancellor, Dr S Makhosi Bhebhe, together with his capable administrative and leadership team set the platform for strong business meetings and insightful workshops for council members and trustees.

This year, ANU graduated 907 individuals on the 28th of July 2023. Some received doctoral, masters, bachelors and post graduate diplomas as well as diplomas and special executive certificates in various areas of skills and expertise. Africa Nazarene University offers education and training at the highest levels through its schools of:  Business/Humanities and Social Sciences/ Religion and Christian Ministries/ Science and Information Technology and School of Law.

There was also time to appreciate Dr Jerry Lambert as he bid farewell as the Chancellor of ANU. Dr Lambert has served as a pastor, district superintendent and college president for the Church of the Nazarene for over 47 years. He has offered exceptional leadership to the International Board of Education (IBOE) for 14 years, propelling it to new heights of performance in his role as Global Education Commissioner. Dr Lambert’s appointment as Commissioner of Education for the Global Church of the Nazarene coincided with ANU’s first student enrolment in 1994.  He was instrumental in supporting the university during those formative years.  When Dr Lambert’s term as Commissioner of Education for the Church of the Nazarene ended, he did not hesitate to accept the position to serve as Chancellor of ANU, which he has done faithfully since 1 October 2007.  Dr Lambert has played a great role in the identification and recruitment of volunteers and staff, the mobilisation of resources for development and scholarships, the development of partnerships and, above all, a great prayer warrior for the university.

We also took time to welcome Dr Eugenio Duarte (GS Emeritus), as the new Chancellor of Africa Nazarene University.

Please continue to pray for ANU in the following ways:

  1. Our Vice Chancellor and the management team
  2. The new business enterprise called Afrinuets
  3. Our staff, faculty and their families as well as our students
  4. God’s provision and protection over the institution for the next cycle of five years
  5. Pray for God to use the members of the Church of the Nazarene to contribute to the sustainability of our institution
  6. Finally, pray that God opens doors for you and your family members to study at Africa Nazarene University
