Equatorial Guinea’s First Graduation in Bachelor of Theology
On 18 January 2025, in the city of Bata, Equatorial Guinea, the first graduation ceremony of the Bachelor’s Degree in Theology programme took place, the result of a partnership with the Seminario Teológico Nazareno del Cono Sur (STNCS) of Argentina. The event was attended by the seminary’s rector, Dr Jorge Julca, who presided over the ceremony and shared an inspiring message, urging the graduates to consecrate their lives to the full service of God.
On this occasion, eight pastors and leaders successfully completed the programme, receiving their Bachelor’s Degree in Theology (BTh). This degree has international validity, supported by the accreditations that the seminary holds in various theological associations. The course of study includes all the fundamental disciplines of theological formation and placed a special emphasis on contextualisation, offering courses adapted to the African reality.
“God has worked greatly in our lives,” said Pastor Marcelo Ndong, one of the graduates, “and we value this opportunity in a context where many religious leaders do not prioritise study. We feel blessed by this training, which not only transforms us, but also many other people in the world.”
Agapito Manga Bingo, also one of the graduates, agrees and says, “Thanks to this preparation, I now write essays and children’s Bible lessons, which I share with teachers in our Church and others in the country.”
“During these years, I have grown as a leader, broadening my understanding of biblical doctrine and strengthening my knowledge in theology and Church history,” says Arnold Sebastian Esono Obiang, a member of the graduating class. “This training has enriched my personal development, helping me to have a more open and critical mind.”
This opportunity was taken to renew the collaboration agreement between the STNCS and the District of Equatorial Guinea for another period of 4 years, with the possibility of providing a Certificate in Theology programme. The joint vision between the South America Region and the Africa Region has made it possible to provide an excellent theological education to Equatorial Guinea.
It is important to acknowledge those who have helped to make this course of study a success. The graduates would like to thank God, for his guidance and blessing in this project, and the rector of the seminary, Dr Jorge Julca, the vice-rector, Mr Eduardo Velázquez, and the entire team of the seminary in Argentina, for their invaluable support to make this graduation a reality. The graduating class is also thankful to all the stake holders on the African continent for their support, as well as the local administrative team led by Rev Daniel Ncuna.
Continue to pray for the graduates and those who are currently enrolled in the theological programme in Equatorial Guinea.
