Postcard from Africa: Liberia
Keetonmo is a town located on the highway from Sanniquellie to Ganta City, Liberia. The Ganta Central Church of the Nazarene invited the Jesus Film team to this location to hold three nights of evangelism and show the film. During one of the showings, a man approached and said:
“My people, hello! My name is Samuel Kpadeh. I was born and raised right here in this village. Many of you know me—I was that young man who always walked around with a heavy heart and a proud face. To be honest, I used to believe that I didn’t need God. I thought that as long as I had strength and could work hard, I would make it in life.
But life taught me otherwise.
“A year ago, I was involved in a serious motor accident while traveling to buy goods for my small business. I survived, but from that day on, everything turned upside down. My leg hasn’t been the same, and I couldn’t hustle the way I used to. I lost everything—my goods, my savings and even the friends who used to be around me. I started drinking heavily and isolating myself, blaming God for my condition.
“However, last night, after watching the Jesus Film, I witnessed something I never expected. I saw a Saviour who didn’t turn away the broken or the proud. I saw Jesus loving people who had failed. When the evangelist finished preaching, it felt as if God was calling me by name. I couldn’t hold back my tears. Right there, I gave my life to Jesus.
“My people, I am not the same Samuel anymore. I have found peace in my heart. I used to carry anger, but now I carry hope. I once felt useless, but now I know that God can still use me. I don’t want to waste my life in bitterness again. I want to be a blessing to others. I want to live for Jesus and help others understand that no matter how far they have fallen, God is still reaching out. Please continue to pray for me.”
