Zimbabwe Midlands District New Church premises and church infrastructure
A new 500-seater Church building was erected and officially opened on the Zimbabwe Midlands District on 1 July 2023. The outgoing Field Strategy Coordinator (FSC) for Africa Southeast Field, Rev Paul Mtambo, together with the District Superintendent, Rev Margaret Sibanda, officially opened the new church building. On the same premises, the district was able to build a 3-bedroom parsonage (manse) with solar capabilities for the house and church, dig a water well and erect a security fence around the entire property.
According to Rev Sibanda, this vision started in 2019 with her late husband and former DS, Rev Noah Sibanda. The aim was to move the church to an urban area as opposed to the rural area where property had been purchased. To raise funds, the district leadership decided to sell some land and made the bold move to go to the city centre. A new church was built and the current pastor reports that the church is experiencing numerical growth each week.
The Zimbabwe Midlands District is a new district in the Zimbabwean context, and it is expanding to new areas and establishing new preaching points. Newly constructed church buildings are important for the sustainability and growth of the church. The district is also pushing for many pastors to be trained so they are able to lead in these ministry points. According to Rev Sibanda, very soon they will be reporting again on new church buildings in new areas.
