Southern Africa HUB Hosts Transformative District Superintendent Conference
The Southern Africa HUB of the Church of the Nazarene successfully hosted a rich and spiritually uplifting District Superintendent Conference from 11–14 November 2025 at the Good News Conference Centre in Muldersdrift, Johannesburg, South Africa. The event brought together nearly 80 leaders from across the region who came with a shared desire to grow, connect and strengthen the ministry of the Church.
Attendees were blessed by inspiring messages from Dr Scott Daniels, General Superintendent in Jurisdiction (JGS) for Africa, who encouraged the leaders to remain faithful to their call and to lead with wisdom and grace. Rev Eddie Estep, District Superintendent of the South-Central Ohio District (USA), shared powerful leadership lessons drawn from the lives of biblical figures such as Moses and Paul, reminding participants how God shapes effective leaders through life’s defining moments.
Dr Daniel Gomis, Africa Regional Director, offered a compelling challenge as he spoke on the deeper purpose and “why” behind the role of a District Superintendent. His message invited leaders to reflect on the heart of their ministry and the spiritual responsibility entrusted to them. Additionally, Rev Solomon Ndlovu, Field Strategy Coordinator (FSC) for the Africa South Field, spoke meaningfully on pastoral care and the welfare of pastors, highlighting the importance of supporting and nurturing those who serve God’s people.
The conference was marked by warm fellowship and unity among leaders from both the Africa South Field and the Africa South Central Field. Four FSCs—Rev Solomon Ndlovu, Rev Cosmos Mutowa, Rev Admirado Chaguala, and Rev Stanley Ushe—were present, with Rev Ushe also welcoming representatives from the Africa East Field, further strengthening regional collaboration.
Participants expressed deep appreciation for the well-organised event and the timely, relevant teachings presented throughout the week. Many emphasised the value of such gatherings in equipping leaders for effective ministry and expressed a desire for more leadership-focused conferences in the future.
This gathering truly reflected the spirit of unity, learning and encouragement that continues to guide the mission of the Church of the Nazarene across Africa.
