Report of the AKWABA Youth Camp, Togo 2025
From 21-24 August 2025, the city of Lomé, Togo, welcomed more than 500 young leaders from Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea Conakry, Benin, Burkina Faso, Senegal and Togo for a unique opportunity for training, meeting and fellowship. Gathered around the central theme, ‘African Youth, rise up and walk in your calling!’ This camp was marked by cultural diversity, spiritual energy and a passion for mission.
Each day of the camp was punctuated by times of worship, profound biblical teachings, interactive workshops and moments of intense prayer. The sessions were dynamic, alternating between teaching, role-play and group work in order to fully engage each participant.
Beyond the teaching, the camp was marked by activities that strengthened fellowship and the joy of being together. A football tournament promoted intergenerational mixing and cohesion among participants. There was a cultural evening around a large fire, enlivened with songs, dances and local stories about leadership principles. An exciting Bible quiz, crowned by the presentation of a trophy to the winning team from the Togo Maritime District. Unique and unforgettable moments!
“Each day was a source of new knowledge, powerful moments, and sincere sharing,” said Christian Amouhoue, a participant at the camp. “Between powerful teachings, times of worship, activities, and laughter, this camp was much more than just an event. [It was] a true spiritual and personal turning point. I left with a full heart, an awakened mind and a boosted spirit for what’s to come.”
Denise Kpevi, a participant from neighbouring Benin, said, “I think it’s a great thing to be able to travel and discover other communities. I must say that what really motivated me to participate was the fact that the camp was held outside my country. I’m actually looking forward to the next one.”
The excellent organisation was by Soubi Clément, NYI Field Coordinator, and his dedicated team, allowing everyone to enjoy an enriching experience. Rev Moïse Toumoudagou, the FSC for the Africa West Francophone Field, at the opening of the camp, encouraged the young people to take their place in leadership and to be agents of transformation in their communities. This call resonated in the hearts of everyone.
At the end of the four days, the participants left equipped and motivated around the same vision: To be catalysts of revival in their families, communities, local churches and districts. A transformed youth to transform. Camp AKWABA 2025 will be remembered as a time of spiritual renewal and missionary mobilisation. Thank you to all the speakers, organisers, leaders and participants for making this event a springboard for ‘…African youth on the move towards their calling!’
Several servants of God from different backgrounds were a part of the speakers, including, Rev Shaun Bati, Regional Youth Coordinator for Africa, Rev Tsakani Sibanda, Regional Urban Ministry Coordinator, Rev Moïse Toumoudagou, FSC from the Africa West Francophone Field, Rev Maloula, Missionary in Guinea, Pastor Lydie Gomis, Field Treasurer and Rev Cyrille Ebam from Cameroon. The organisers also want to thank the district superintendents who made an effort to attend, demonstrating the importance of young people and their mission.
