Postcard from Africa: Senegal
Gabriel is a young student who has been raised in a family whose religion is animism. His parents made sacrifices and the entire family was initiated into these practices. Gabriel always felt hesitancy at joining in these practices. He always felt unsettled in his spirit. “I never wanted to participate [in these things because] I am looking for peace and salvation for my soul,” said Gabriel.
One Saturday in their village, some people came to do a screening of the Jesus Film. Gabriel did not even get to see the film from the beginning, but something in his body and spirit felt like a freshness. “I felt something…which penetrated my whole interior, and I began to feel joy and peace,” he said.
Gabriel began to cry until one of the volunteers approached him and asked if he would like to pray for salvation. Gabriel not only prayed to receive Jesus as his Saviour, but he also prayed for his family to know Christ.
Let us remember to pray for Gabriel as he is new in the faith, and pray for his family to also come to the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
