Postcard from Africa: Congo
Brother Tabin Mbeketi has given his life to Jesus!
Before knowing Jesus, Tabin was a member of a gang who sowed terror in the lives of travellers in his part of the Congo. He was also responsible for the deaths of people in this area during the last ethnic conflict that took place here not long ago. Tabin, too, was initiated into killing fetishes (rituals to the dead) so he would not suffer curses from the dead (a common belief in this part of the Congo as it relates to ancestral worship). He was a member of a group of young people from an ethnic group that sought out conflict and disruption in their area. His life and his hands flow with the blood of the innocent.
We know, because it is written in the Bible, that Christ is able to forgive him because of the act of the shedding of Jesus’ blood on the cross. Let us pray for our brother so that his heart remains always and forever with Jesus Christ.
