Nazarene Youth Prison Outreach in Sierra Leone

In early February, the Nazarene Youth International (NYI) Sierra Leone, carried out a special evangelical outreach to the inmates of the Correctional Centre in the nation’s capital city, Freetown.

In their ministry, these youths preached the word of God, admonished on effects of “drug abuse”, offered prayers and donated copies of the Bible to the prisoners. They also offered legal assistants to some of the inmates as some members of the team have a legal background.

Appreciating the gesture, the prison authorises commended the youth for their show of love as “Christ-like”, of which the inmates were reassured of God’s mercies towards the repentant soul.

In a vote of thanks, the prisoner’s lead-man thanked the youths and praised God, saying that the visit has rekindled hope of freedom in the lives of those in prison.

In their farewell statement, the youth assured the inmates of subsequent visits afterwards. Promising that more shall be added by the grace of God. This is the first time the NYI is making such outreach, but this is seen as part of their campaign against drug abuse in their communities.

May the Lord’s grace be multiplied upon the NYI.
