On Thursday evening, the Church of the Nazarene Botswana hosted their annual Easter conference. All churches (Gaborone North, Gaborone South, Bokaa, Kopong, Lobatse, Moshupa, Otse, Lothlakane East, Lothlakane West, Pitsane, Lerala and Serowe) along with preaching points (Mochudi, Marapong, Topisi, Mahalapye) in the district came together to commemorate the significance of the holiday to the Christian Family
The event organiser, Ketshepile Segale Mooketsi invited Ishmael Magakwe from Newington COTN Bushbuckridge, South Africa. The services were translated from Setswana to English so as to accomodate those that had travelled as representatives of the Africa Regional Office, Africa South Field Office and other visitors.
A moment of silence was observed for those that had been affected by Cyclone Idai. This opened the conference, in respect to the brothers and sisters we lost in the countries of Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
The celebrations carried on until Sunday noon. Ketshepile says “the purpose of these celebrations is not just a tradition to us but instead an amour to annually revitalise the journey of being Christ-like disciples.”
