AWAF Media-Communication Nigeria

AWAF MEDIA-COMM Nigeria 2025 Training took place from 24-27 September 2025, and it was a success, to the glory of God. Organised by the Africa West Anglophone Field, it featured lectures and drills on the basics of communication and media with special emphasis on social media and podcasting. Facilitated by the Regional Communication Coordinator (RCC), Esteban Murillo and the Field Communications Coordinator (FCC), Rev Raphael Iheme, the workshop had 25 trainees coming from the three districts of Nigeria: Lagos, Southeast and Port Harcourt, with some participants travelling as much as 14 hours by road.

Esteban Murillo said, “I’m joyful for this opportunity, being my first to hold such since I assumed this office in Africa.” Murillo encouraged the youths to keep on the fire, hopeful and focused on Jesus. He also said, “It was a great excitement I am visiting this great country, Nigeria, for the first time.”

The participants were so excited to have the RCC facilitate the training. “The lessons were of a high standard,” said participant, Elijah. Another participant, Queen, said, “The media and communication training [were] educational and inspiring. I’m now inspired to use social media for the growth of the church. Also, I had the opportunity to acquire other skills such as effective storytelling.”

Adding his voice, the FSC, Rev Vidal Cole admonished the youths to make the best of lessons learned from the training while looking for more engagements in the future.

Rev Iheme, praised God for his faithfulness in seeing the whole project come to pass, as well as the help of the host DS, Rev Robinson Obanna, who helped with the planning and logistics of the event.

At the closing, Rev Vidal Cole issued the participants with “Certificates of Participation,”  23 of whom were youths involved in NYI leadership.
