Dr. Ângela Moreno

We are excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Ângela Moreno as the new Regional Nazarene Missions International Coordinator (NMI) of the Africa Region.

Dr. Ângela Moreno was born on the island of São Nicolau in Cape Verde, and currently resides in Achada São Filipe. She is married and a mother of three children. She is a committed Christian and an active member of the Church of the Nazarene. Throughout her service in the church, she has held various positions, including local NMI president, lay pastor, District Advisory Board member, and member of both the General Board and the Regional Advisory Council.

Dr. Moreno holds a Ph.D. in Biosystems Engineering with a focus on Rural Engineering, as well as a Master’s degree in Hydraulics and Water Resources. She is an Agronomist and a Senior Researcher with 33 years of experience in research, agronomy, agro-economics, rural engineering, irrigation, and soil and water management. She completed her studies at the Technical University of Lisbon in Portugal, where she earned her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. degrees.

Currently, she serves as the President of the Public Irrigation Water Company of Cape Verde. She is the author and co-author of several national and international scientific publications and has continental and global experience spanning the USA, Europe, and Africa.

Ângela possesses strong communication skills, both oral and written, which she developed through her experiences as a public manager, researcher, and university professor. She is an excellent engineer and researcher in the fields of agriculture, water mobilization, irrigation, and integrated rural development.

Ângela’s profound passion is to make Christ known and reflect Him in all that she does, as well as to mobilize the African Church for missions.
