Africa South Field Women’s Extravaganza 2025

From 8-10 August 2025, the Africa South Field (ASF) hosted the Women’s Extravaganza just outside of Johannesburg, South Africa, at the Anew Hotel and Conference Centre, OR Tambo. The ASF Women’s Extravaganza was the largest it has ever been with just over 2786 women (and a few men) from 18 districts and 4 countries. This is a highlight on many of the participant’s yearly calendars as they plan and prepare to be a part of this amazing event.

This year’s theme was “Renewed and Refreshed” based on Isaiah 40:31. The main speaker for the event was Pastor Lucia Mashiloane with Rev L Ngwenya sharing a dynamic devotion on Saturday morning. The women also received teachings on various topics throughout the weekend, including workshops on the Journey of Grace, women’s empowerment, women’s health, caring for those with special needs and sermons entitled, “I Will Not be Silenced”, “To Whom Much Is Given Much Will Be Required” and “The Renewing and the Refreshing Dose”.

One of the many highlights of the weekend included the music and dancing that the women are able to participate in as many of them dress in traditional clothing, blow on whistles and even wear hats and fascinators that add an air of elegance and fun to the event. The women are there to spend time with other like-minded women and to be refreshed and renewed to return home with a renewed vigour to disciple not only their families but to be disciple-makers in their local churches. Also, on Saturday evening, well-known recording artists, Sbu Noah and Ayanda and Koketso Shange performed, much to the delight of the participants. It was a lovely time of worship and fun for the ladies.

The Nazarene Women Ministry Extravaganza is an extension of the Women Ministry under Nazarene Discipleship International (NDI), and the leadership of Rev Irene Mpangana and her team who tirelessly organise this even each year. It started in 2008 when five districts on the Africa South Field proposed the idea. These districts felt that, as women, they need each other regardless of their districts, to meet in order to extend the Kingdom of God to all nations. The vision is, “To carry out The Great Commission (Matthew 28: 19-20) by making women Christ-like disciples from district to district, generation to generation, and to all the fields in Africa.”

It was decided the conference would always correspond with the 9th of August, which is Women’s Day in South Africa—a day when women are honoured for their important role in the struggle against Apartheid.

We thank God for the team who puts on this massive event every single year. Please pray for the Women’s Extravaganza Committee as they are already starting to plan for 2026.
