Africa Region – Trevecca Nazarene University Curriculum Design
Cohort Success
Africa Region, through the office of the Regional Education Coordinator (REC), in collaboration with Trevecca University, saw 2022 give rise to the African cohort for Trevecca’s Master of Science – Instructional Design Technology (MSIDT). The conversation for the development of such a program for Africa started in 2021 when Dr Dan Boone, President of Trevecca Nazarene University, mentioned this as an option to a need raised by the Africa REC, Dr Gabriel Benjiman. Subsequent conversations between the TNU Curriculum Team and the Regional Education Coordinator included ideas for the way to proceed.
The REC’s office in consultation with FSCs believed that the opportunity to study is in line with our Regional Educational values and goals of improving and exceeding our desire to see each leader growing to the next level. Dr Dany Gomis, the Regional Director, was careful to insist that the program must meet the Regional Education Strategy to bring institutions into full alignment for the future of efficient working within state frameworks.
The Africa Region’s Educational support partner, EDUF, came alongside to assist in raising part of the funding for the members of the cohort to complete their Masters degrees. In May 2024, the four members of the MSIDT cohort completed their education with Trevecca and graduated. Africa is proud of Peris Akoye, Prudence Kunene, Rev Mathapelo Tebele and Rev Oscar Dama for their outstanding achievements and their willingness to work alongside any of the Africa Region’s eight IBOE institutions to advance our institutions in the area of curriculum design.
