FSC Named for Horn of Africa

Join with the Africa Region is celebrating the appointment of Dr Aweis A Ali as the Field Strategy Coordinator for the newly re-formed Horn of Africa Field (HOA), effective immediately. A Somali-born leader with a deep commitment to evangelism and leadership development, Dr Ali brings decades of ministry experience and a passion for creative access work, particularly among nomadic pastoralist communities.

Dr Ali became a Christian in Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1986 through listening to radio broadcasts. From 1993 to 1996, he served as a house church pastor. In 1996, he joined the Church of the Nazarene in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he began a ministry as an evangelist.

Since then, Dr Ali has served in a variety of leadership roles across the Horn of Africa, including district superintendent, Horn of Africa Mission Coordinator and country coordinator for two Creative Access countries. In 2005, he and his wife were appointed as global missionaries, further expanding their influence and service in the region. Prior to full-time ministry, he also worked with international organisations such as UNOSOM, UNICEF and Samaritan’s Purse in Somalia.

Dr Ali holds a Bachelor of Theology from Evangelical Theological College in Addis Ababa, a Master of Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, and a PhD from Africa Nazarene University in Nairobi, Kenya.
In his new role, Dr Ali is particularly passionate about fostering reconciliation and modeling Christ-like character within the church. He continues to advocate for creative access ministry and is driven by a vision to see the Gospel shared effectively among underserved and hard-to-reach communities. A favorite scripture that reflects his faith and perseverance is 2 Timothy 3:12: “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”

Dr Ali is married to Rev LeCrecia Mosher Ali, who shares his calling and commitment to ministry in Africa. The Ali’s have 6 children.

Let us pray for Dr Ali and Rev LeCrecia as they take on this new responsibility. Let us pray for God’s guidance and sustaining strength in this assignment.
