Postcard from Africa: Nigeria
“My name is Ada Nwadike, and I was born and brought up in Edo state. My parents sent me to school, and they worked hard for me to have this privilege. Unfortunately, I have disappointed them.”
“I was in the group of boys who kidnapped a girl from my school. It was a mistake. I did not know what the result would be. My dad died full of sorrow because of threats to his life when I was in prison. Eventually, my parents paid to bail me out of prison, and after they did, I ran away to Lagos to be with a friend. Police arrested my father, who later died a few months later.”
“I have been in regret and sorrow because I am like a prodigal son. No one seems to forgive me. I cry day and night to God.”
“Tonight, I have received some comfort. Tonight, I asked Jesus to give me rest, and he spoke to me directly. ‘Come to me and I will give you rest,’ he said to me.”
“He has forgiven me of my sins. His blood has washed my sins away. Jesus is my Lord and Saviour. He has begotten me. Though my earthly parents have rejected me; Jesus has accepted me. I am a child of God.”
PRAYER REQUESTS:
Ada asks, “Please pray that my mother and sisters will forgive me and accept me back into the family. I am like a prodigal son now. I have realised my mistakes. May my entire family forgive me for the sadness I have caused them for several years.”
